About the course

Ashtakavarga is a unique and intricate system in Vedic Astrology that provides a numerical assessment of the strength and influence of planets and houses in an individual's horoscope. It is a powerful tool for making precise predictions and understanding various aspects of life.

Key Concepts

  1. Ashtakavarga System: The term "Ashtakavarga" translates to "eight divisions." This system divides each zodiac sign into eight parts, each influenced by a different planet. The planets considered in Ashtakavarga are the Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, and the Ascendant (Lagna). Rahu and Ketu are not included in this system.
  2. Bindus and Rekhas: In Ashtakavarga, each planet contribute points called "Bindus" (beneficial points) and "Rekhas" (malefic points) to each house in the horoscope. The total number of Bindus in a house indicates its strength and potential for positive outcomes.
  3. Sarvashtakavarga and Bhinnashtakavarga:
    • Sarvashtakavarga: This is the combined Ashtakavarga of all planets, providing an overall assessment of the strength of each house.
    • Bhinnashtakavarga: This is the individual Ashtakavarga of each planet, showing the specific influence of each planet on different houses.

Applications of Ashtakavarga

  1. Predictive Astrology: Ashtakavarga is used to make detailed predictions about various aspects of life, including health, wealth, career, relationships, and more. By analyzing the Bindus in each house, astrologers can predict the potential outcomes and challenges in different areas of life.
  2. Timing of Events: The system helps in determining auspicious and inauspicious times for important events such as marriage, starting a new business, or undertaking significant projects. The strength of the houses and the transit of planets through these houses are considered to find the most favorable times.
  3. Remedial Measures: Based on the Ashtakavarga analysis, astrologers can suggest specific remedies to enhance positive influences and mitigate negative ones. These remedies may include wearing gemstones, performing specific rituals, or following certain lifestyle changes.
  4. Understanding Karma: Ashtakavarga provides insights into the karmic influences on an individual's life. It helps in understanding the balance of past life karma and its impact on the present life.

Practical Example

For instance, if the 11th house (house of gains) has a high number of Bindus, it indicates strong potential for financial gains and success in endeavours. Conversely, if the 12th house (house of expenses) has fewer Bindus, it suggests controlled expenses and better financial management.

Ashtakavarga is a highly advanced and technical method in Vedic Astrology, requiring deep knowledge and experience to interpret accurately. It offers a comprehensive and nuanced understanding of an individual's horoscope, making it an invaluable tool for astrologers.
